Milbank Scholars Award
ClosedAnnual scholarship supporting graduating seniors pursuing higher education.
Overview
The Milbank Scholars Award helps graduating seniors take the next step to college with confidence. Awards may be used for tuition, required fees, books, and on-campus housing at accredited two or four year institutions. Our goal is to recognize sustained effort, character, and community commitment, not just test scores.
What we value:
- Academic persistence and growth over time
- Meaningful involvement in school or community
- Clear post secondary goals and a basic plan to pay for college
How selection works:
- A committee of local educators and volunteers reviews applications holistically
- Financial context is considered alongside merit factors
- Finalists may be contacted for clarification or a short conversation
What you submit if invited to apply:
- Unofficial transcript through first semester of senior year
- Short personal statement that describes goals and challenges
- One recommendation from a teacher, counselor, coach, or employer
Use of funds:
- Funds are paid directly to the institution after enrollment is verified
- Awards may be split between fall and spring terms
Timeline:
- Open date and deadline are shown on this page
- Applicants typically hear decisions within four to six weeks after the close date
